MONROE — The Monroe City Band will open its year-long 70th birthday party with an evening of music.

The Monroe City Band’s Stage Band will entertain the audience with a cabaret-style concert featuring music from classic TV and movies, pop hits, and jazz standards. Julie Blumer will be the vocal soloist and Dan Wegmueller will be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

The concert will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 23 in the Turner Hall ballroom. Tickets are available from City Band members or at the door. A new addition to the concert will be a raffle with options to submit tickets for a choice of prizes.

The band continues the party with their first summer concert at Twining Park at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 3. There will also be an official “Happy Diamond Birthday” concert on Sunday, Aug. 11.
