MONROE — Volunteers are needed in Monroe for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program sponsored by American Association of Retired Persons/Tax Aide. AARP/Tax Aide provides free income tax assistance by preparing income tax returns for low to moderate income, disabled and elderly persons.

Volunteers should be comfortable working on a computer. Some income tax knowledge is helpful. Computers and software are provided. Volunteers are required to attend free training. In-person training dates are Jan. 13 and 17 in Monroe. Self-study training is also required. You must have a password protected internet connection. You will be able to remotely prepare taxes from your home on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at any time of your choosing.

The tax season runs from Feb. 6 to April 13, 2023. To volunteer, contact Angie Rogerson at 608-214-2079.
