Fall Terrace Tree Planting approaches
park and rec tree sale
Park and Recreation Department employee Scott Feldt adds mulch to a new planting.

MONROE — Monroe Parks and Recreation Department will begin the Fall Terrace Tree Planting the week of Oct. 22 with two varieties of trees available for homeowners to purchase and a limited number available.

Trees are sold on a “first come, first served” basis. The American Sentry Linden grows 50 feet to 60 feet tall and its cost is $77, while the Regal Prince Oak grows to 50 feet tall and costs $74; there are still five of each type of tree available for sale. All trees are half the regular cost. The other half is being covered with a 2018 Department of Natural Resources Urban Forestry grant. The price includes: planting, staking, mulching, fertilizing and watering the tree at planting time. The homeowner is also given information from the nursery on care after planting. The trees are guaranteed for one year and will be replaced at no cost within that time.

Orders are due by Oct. 5 and can be made by stopping at the temporary city parks and recreation office in the Monroe Streets Department building, 1064 5th Ave. Please call the office with questions at 329-2460.
