Albany school district to offer Child Find

ALBANY - The Albany School District is offering the Albany Child Find for all families that reside in the district and who have a child not yet attending the schools.

The child find screening is an opportunity for parents to learn more about their child's overall development. The screening gives a present level of development and a chance to learn about typical growth of children. It also offers a free vision and hearing screening along with answers to health related questions and possible interventions for optimal success.

The screening allows children to participate in a play-based assessment while interacting with school staff. The staff observes such things as communication, early learning skills, coordination and social skills. After the screening, families get a chance to meet with those involved to discuss findings. The screening takes about an hour.

The Albany Child Find will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 1.

To schedule a screening, contact the Albany School at (608) 862-3225. When making the appointment, have the parent's names, child's name, date of birth and a phone number ready.
