We would like to thank everyone who helped make the eighth annual Pedal For Paws on July 11 such a rousing success. The bike ride is an important fundraiser for the Green County Humane Society and Mother Nature cooperated by providing wonderful weather for this fun event.
A huge thank you goes to Mary Schmidt for leading the Pedal For Paws effort. Mary volunteered to chair the event, and handled every detail from beginning to end with spirit and enthusiasm. She put a wonderful committee together, and we thank every committee member for the many hours they spent to ensure a successful event. Our thanks go to Jeff Mueller and Kimberly Wheeler-Yates for all their expert advice and to the riders who rode the routes beforehand to make it safe for all. And a special thank you to the volunteers who worked the day of the event - without their help, bikers would not have been taken care of so efficiently.
Also deserving our gratitude are the many area businesses that donated to the effort. Toffler's sponsored the After-Ride party, which featured live music by the Unadoptables band and fun for everyone.
Finally, thank you to the 100-plus bike riders who turned out to enjoy Pedal for Paws and GCHS supporters who help in a multitude of ways every day of the year. We are forever grateful for the community's generosity and willingness to help us fulfill our mission of finding forever, loving homes for the animals in our care.
