Letter to the editor: Is Trump a puppet of Russia?

To the editor:

Trump's latest cabinet pick for Secretary of State came out of the blue, surprising many. But Rex Tillerson is just one more in Trump's administration with alarmingly direct ties to Russia.

So folks everywhere are starting to ask, "What's up with Trump's affection for Russia?" who always has been, is, and always will be, our country's greatest mortal archenemy.

A long time ago, the Wall Street Journal suggested that American banks had quit loaning Trump money because he had become such a terrible risk. In his desperation to keep his failing empire afloat, Trump turned to Russian investors to bail him out. In 2008, during an interview with the Washington Post, Donald Trump Jr. confessed that "Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets," and he went on to say "We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia."

This confession from Trump's son, along with other sources confirming the Trump's massive debt, suggest that Trump's repeated admiration for Putin, and his unwillingness to let us see his tax returns, are no coincidence.

Evidence is building that perhaps Donald Trump may have really only run for president to avoid bankruptcy - and that Russia, who's been coming to his financial rescue for some time, may have recognized his political aspirations as an opportunity to destroy our country if we were stupid enough to elect him.

Even before news of the CIA report to Obama and leaders in Congress last September leaked, Trump's pick for national security advisor, Mike Flynn, admitted he wouldn't be surprised if the Russians were responsible for the hacking which the CIA's report just confirmed were specifically designed by Russia to install Trump in the Oval Office.

It's no secret that Trump, the GOP, and his supporters all share the habit of ignoring real, honest-to-goodness facts, and what is painfully obvious to everyone else. But only recently have they adopted the tactic of discrediting honest-to-goodness facts with the label "fake news" - once again turning reality on its head. With more hard evidence mounting, there's little remaining doubt that Trump is nothing more than a Russian patsy - a easily manipulated puppet who's been installed as our president by means of an "electoral coup" orchestrated by Russia that must be stopped before it's too late. The only question remaining is if the GOP is Russia's puppet, too?
