Wis. Heights slows New Glarus

NEW GLARUS - In a showdown for Capitol South Conference supremacy, Wisconsin Heights Grady Geishirt tossed a complete game three-hitter to propel the Vanguards to a 6-1 win over the Glarner Knights Friday.

Geishirt gave up one run on three hits, while striking out seven and walking two to get the win. New Glarus sophomore Cooper Dryfus had a double, senior Jared Carney and sophomore Connor Siegenthaler each had singles.

Carney pitched six innings and gave up six runs on six hits. He struck out five and didn't issue a walk.



Argyle 7, Cassville 1

WIOTA - Argyle sophomore Mason Waage had three hits and knocked in two runs to lead the Orioles to a win over Cassville in the first game of a doubleheader.

Argyle completed the sweep by beating Cassville 16-4 in the nightcap of the twinbill Friday. With the sweep, Argyle improves to 8-7 overall and 6-3 in the Six Rivers East Conference.

With the win, Argyle stays two games behind Pecatonica in the Six Rivers east. Argyle's B.J. Penniston added two hits and the Orioles scored two runs in both the third and fourth innings to take a 5-0 lead over the Comets. The Orioles pounded out 12 hits.

Argyle junior Mitch Flannery pitched 3 1/3 innings and also posted six strikeouts to get the win. Sophomore Miken Godrey pitched 3 2/3 shutout innings in relief. He struck out six and didn't give up a run.

In the second game of the doubleheader, both Argyle freshman Clay Ritschard and Godfrey had three hits. Argyle freshman Jayden Johnson had four RBIs and Godfrey and Waage each had two RBIs. The Orioles had 11 hits in the second game and the Comets were plagued by six errors.

Argyle junior Jakob Ploessl pitched 3 2/3 innings and gave up three runs to get the win and struck out two.
