Monroe

Jon Becker, Football: Rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown during the Cheesemakers' 34-7 loss to Sauk Prairie Friday. The score was Monroe's first score of the season.

Dylan Starck, Boys Cross Country: Finished sixth at the Bruess Invite in Monroe on Aug. 31 and then took sixth again five days later at the Darlington Invitational, knocking off nine seconds in the process.

Kristin McArdle, Girls Tennis: Monroe's No. 1 singles player picked up a three-set win over Fort Atkinson's Lexie Weigand on Aug. 31 and then knocked off Madison Edgewood's Sara Murphy two days later, also in three sets.

Area Boys

Alex Erickson, Darlington Football: The senior quarterback rushed for 100 yards on nine carries, scoring three times, and added two passing touchdown's as the state-ranked Redbirds improved to 2-0 win a 39-7 win over Wisconsin Heights Friday.

David Earleywine, Brodhead-Juda Football: The Cardinals' junior quarterback threw for 171 yards on 7 of 11 passing, with three touchdowns, in a 41-13 win over Cuba City Friday.

Ryan McCoy, New Glarus-Monticello Cross Country: The sophomore runner finished second at the Bruess Invitational in Monroe Aug. 31 and then took eighth at the Verona Invite Sept. 4.

Area Girls

Bailey Hlavachek, Albany Cross Country: The Comets freshman took sixth at the Bruess Invitational Aug. 31 and was seventh at the Sept. 4 Darlington Invitational.

Courtney Pfeuti, Albany Volleyball: The senior setter helped the Comets end Black Hawk's 36-match conference winning streak Aug. 31, then had 41 assists Sept. 2 in a five-set win over Barneveld. On Sept. 4, Pfeuti took 56th in the Darlington Invite cross country race, helping the Comets to a fifth-place team finish.

Kendra Sigg, Pecatonica-Argyle Cross Country: The sophomore runner was 11th at the Bruess Invitational Aug. 31 and finished 12th at the Darlinton Invitational Sept. 4.
