Tourists bust out of gates

NEW GLARUS - The Tourists did a fine job of warming up for back-to-back clashes with their rivals to the south Thursday night.

New Glarus (2-2 Night League) scored four times in both of the first two innings to surge past Ridgeway, 9-2, at home in a Home Talent Night League South Section game.

The Tourists wasted no time scaring Ridgeway's starter from the game with three RBI-singles in the first inning. The first came from recent Pecatonica graduate Drew Moen before a double-steal brought in the second run.

Then run-scoring knocks by lefty Vance Vlasak and reliever Jeremy Ketelboeter finished the first-inning rally.

Ketelboeter took the ball after Nic Owen sparkled for the first five innings. Owen fanned one and allowed just two hits to get the win. He took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before the first batter of the frame broke up Owen's bid.

Vlasak went 3-for-4 and recent Belleville grad Griffin Rear joined Ketelboeter in adding two hits to the Tourist's effort.

New Glarus faces Monroe at home Saturday at noon in a Sunday League contest. Next Thursday they'll face the Brewers again in Night League play.
