Argyle (3-2, 1-0 Six Rivers East) scored three runs in both the first and second innings to take a commanding 6-1 lead.

"Our bats were strong tonight," Argyle coach Heidi Ganshert said. "That was nice to see."

Juda-Albany 7, Monticello 0

ALBANY - Juda-Albany junior Nicki Becker tossed a three-hit shutout, and the Panthers topped Monticello in a Six Rivers East Conference game.

It's the second straight shutout Becker has thrown. She struck out eight and didn't issue a walk.

"We worked on a variety of pitches," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "I thought she (Becker) did a nice job and had good command."

The Panthers (5-1, 2-0 Six Rivers East) led 1-0 going into the fourth inning when they scored three runs off Monticello freshman pitcher Mia Brokopp.

The Panthers left 10 runners on base in the game.

"She (Brokopp) kept us off-balance," Davis said. "We struggled a little bit. She had us hitting a lot of ground balls, and they were making the plays behind her."

Brokopp pitched 51⁄3 innings and gave up four earned runs on eight hits. She struck out one and walked six.

Juda-Albany senior Alexis Goecks went 3-for-4, and senior Chelsea Burkhalter was 2-for-2.

Juda-Albany has committed just three errors in its first six games.

"I'm happy with how our defense has played all year," Davis said. "If we can play sound defensively we can have an off night on offense."
