Peewee Avalanche hockey team win two

MONROE - On Saturday, Jan. 12, the Monroe Peewee Avalanche team traveled to Madison to play the Patriots and picked up an 8-2 win.

The Avalanche found themselves down 1-0 after a sluggish first period. Midway through the second period Travis Edmunds found the back of the net to tie the game. Moments later Edmunds scored his second goal to give the Avalanche the lead for good. Jared Cline would score the Avalanche's next three goals to put the game out of reach. Connor Nafzger added a goal, and Edmunds scored his third. Joe Wyss, Edmunds and Cline each had two assists, and Cammi Ganshert and Charlie Harris each had one.

Goalie Jayden Johnson had 28 saves.

On Sunday, Jan. 13, the team traveled to Janesville and collected a convincing 8-1 win.

Cline scored to give the Avalanche a 1-0 lead after the first period. Janesville tied the game early in the second period. With three seconds left in the period, Cline scored again to give Monroe the lead for good. In the third period, the Avalanche took control of the game with Wyss and Edmunds each scoring twice. Harris added a goal and Cline scored his third goal of the game. Harris and Wyss each had two assists while Edmunds had one. Johnson stopped 11 shots for the Avalanche.



Mite White

The Avalanche traveled to Stoughton for three games. Stoughton shut out the Avalanche in the first game, but the Avalanche won the second and third games against the Madison Polar Caps and Middleton.

Scoring for the Avalanche were Lilah Bauer (three), Blaze Janecke (three), Gavin Roth (two goals), Anna Malone, and Seth Brant. Goalie Jack Leverton had 16 saves in the first game, 10 saves in the second game, and 7 saves in the third.



Mite Blue

The Avalanche traveled to Madison for three games but came up short. They fell 8-1 against Middleton in the first game. Karlee Boll scored the lone goal.

The Polar Caps shut out the Avalanche 6-0 as did the Patriots, 9-0. Goalie Jaryn Fonseca had 4 saves in the first game, 7 saves in the second and 11 saves in the third.
