BLANCHARDVILLE - Senior Cory Linder went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI to propel the Pecatonica baseball team to a 7-2 win Tuesday over Argyle.
"When we play Argyle, we are teammates in football, and opponents and rivals in baseball," Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen said.
Argyle senior Cam Treuthardt and sophomore Mitch Flannery allowed nine hits.
Pecatonica senior A.J. Hendrickson went 2-for-4. Senior Presly Hauser and junior Cory Swenson each scored two runs. Sophomore Colton Schraepfer had two stolen bases.
Treuthardt started on the mound and pitched 32⁄3 innings. He gave up four earned runs on seven hits. Treuthardt struck out three and walked two. Flannery pitched 21⁄3 innings in relief and gave up two unearned runs on one hit.
The Orioles were plagued by four errors.
"Their pitchers kept them in the game," Strommen said of the Orioles.
Sophomore Carter Ruegsegger pitched four shutout innings for the Vikings (11-0, 7-0 Six Rivers East). He struck out six and walked a season-high four. Junior Evan Prust pitched three innings in relief and gave up two runs on three hits. He struck out seven and walked one.
"Carter struggled with his control tonight," Strommen said. "Coming into the game he had walked just one and he walked four tonight. Evan came in and did a really good job in relief."
Five players for the Orioles (4-7) had one hit. Junior Brent Ritschard went 1-for-2 with two walks and one run scored. Freshman Gavin Johnson had one RBI for the Orioles.
