Pec-Argyle takes one on the chin

PLATTEVILLE - The Pecatonica-Argyle football team got off on the wrong path to start the 2009 season. The Vikings were smashed by Kenosha St. Joseph, 34-7, Saturday.

Kenosha scored twice in the first quarter on runs of 2 yards and 69 yards. Pecatonica-Argyle found itself trailing 27-0 late in the second quarter, but scored on a 1-yard run by Jeremy Meudt. Chris Hendrickson's extra point capped the Vikings scoring.

Kenosha scored one more time in the third quarter.

The Vikings gained just 130 yards on the ground on 44 carries, and added 47 yards through the air. Meudt was 5-for-11 with an interception for Pecatonica-Argyle. Jared Johnson had 96 yards on 23 carries.

Kenosha, meanwhile, racked up yards at will. St. Joseph racked up 272 yards on 26 carries and added another 120 yards in the air on 10-of-12 passing. The total: 392 total yards against the Vikings' defense in just 38 plays. Pecatonica-Argyle had just 177 yards on 55 plays.
