FORT ATKINSON - Both Monroe senior Chelsea Miller and junior Katie Demianiuk returned from injuries and the Monroe girls tennis team edged Fort Atk-inson 4-3 Tuesday.
Monroe junior Eva Priewe at No. 2 singles cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win. Demianiuk at No. 3 singles won 6-1, 6-1 after a strained muscle in her shoulder had sidelined her. Monroe freshman Ashley Placek at No. 4 singles won the decisive match to give the Cheesemakers the win. Placek pulled out a three-set win 6-2, 5-7, 7-5.
"It was a very dramatic and well played match," Monroe coach Tim Walsh said. "She (Placek) played great under pressure."
The other win for the Cheesemakers came from the No. 1 doubles team of Erin Gellings and Paige Prien won 6-4, 6-4.
