SOUTH WAYNE — The WarBirds knocked off Dodgeville 54-23 in a dual match Dec. 4 at Black Hawk High School.
The Dodgers opened the night with three straight wins, but Darlington-Black Hawk responded by scoring either a pin or a forfeit in nine of the final 11 matches. Dodgeville was also hit with a negative point for misconduct.
Bailey Schilling (220) and Leif Bredeson (285) scored the first points for the WarBirds, netting pins in 26 and 74 seconds. DBH then snagged forfeits at 106 and 113 before forfeiting the 120-pound weight class and holding a 24-18 advantage.
Eric Hocking (126) pinned Dylan Roen in 5:35 to score six points for the WarBirds, which closed out the match with four consecutive pins: Owen Huschitt (138, 3:22), Brady Horne (145, 3:02), Kolbe Ubersox (152, 3:08) and Hunter Bredeson (160, 5:30).
Dodgeville’s Mason Mortimer pinned Joseph Standaert in the 132-pound match in 1:23. At 195, Joey Recob pinned DBH’s Karl Seffrood in 5:33. Tyler Bell (170) won a tight match against Cayden Milz of the Warbirds 8-7 in overtime, and Tanner Bell (182) held off DBH’s Carson Lobdell 6-3.
