Sugar River runners-up to Lodi at Raider Invite

BELLEVILLE — Sugar River boys and girls fell to Lodi in the Raider Invite on May 10. Both teams are in the Capitol Conference, which had its meet on May 14 to determine the overall champion. The Raiders were Capitol South Dual champions, and the Blue Devils were Capitol North Dual champions.

In Friday’s meet, Jack Erickson scored 30 points and broke the meet’s 200-meter dash record. The old mark, 22.50, was set by Verona’s Obi Ifediora in 2018. Erickson bested that by 0.25 seconds. Carter Scholey scored 20 points, winning both the 800- and 1,600-meter run.

STEVE ‘SPARKY’ REYNOLDS MEMORIAL INVITE

BOSCOBEL — Anna and Loretta Tisch combined for all 25 points of Argyle-Pecatonica girls total in the Steve ‘Sparky’ Reynolds Memorial Invite on May 10. AP girls finished 13th of 23 teams. 

Anna Tisch took third in the 100-meter hurdles (16.78, 6 points) and second in the 300-meter hurdles (46.97, 8 points). Loretta Tisch followed close behind in fourth (48.86, 5 points). The sisters were members of the 4x400 relay with Brooke Wellnitz and Aleah Harris. The squad finished third (4:17.13, 6 points).

Darlington girls scored 23 points, finishing 14th. The Lady Redbirds’ top performance was the 4x200 relay (1:49.41, 6 points) — Abby Solverson, Raquel Reuter, Jaidyn Evenstad, Alyza Johnson — which took third.

Darlington boys scored 21 points, finishing 16th of 23 teams. The Redbirds had three fourth-place finishes — Danick Haesler in the 110-meter hurdles (17.15), Ethan Aird in the pole vault (11-06) and the 4x200 relay (3:36.47), which was comprised of Eli Crist, Kane McDermott, Marcus Kendall and Isaac Crist.

Argyle-Pecatonica boys did not score a point.
