NEW GLARUS — With a 3-pointer in the second half of a 67-24 win over Marshall, New Glarus senior Lindsey Schadewalt set the school’s all-time scoring record — for both boys and girls.
Schadewalt broke the record previously set by 2019 graduate Jaden Kreklow with 1,814 career points. In fact, Schadewalt is on pace to score 2,000 career points at the end of January, as she averages 28.3 ppg.
“Lindsey is a great person and player that is always willing to put in the extra work to be a better player and person,” New Glarus head coach Kevin Parman said. “Working on weaknesses is what makes a person stronger on and off the court.”
Not only was the 67-24 victory a significant one in Schadewalt’s career, but showcased the Knights’ resiliency. On Dec. 18, New Glarus fell to Mineral Point 59-48 — just the team’s second loss all season. New Glarus knew it would be critical to come out firing, especially in the Capitol Conference opener.
“To say I’m proud of this team’s efforts this last week would be an understatement,” Parman said. “The way these girls communicated to each other, the leadership and growth was second to none and it showed Thursday night — our best team effort of the season.”
New Glarus and Cambridge currently sit atop the Capitol South standings, winning their opening games. Marshall and Waterloo are at the bottom with one loss, while Belleville and Wisconsin Heights have yet to play a conference game.
