Strommen named Coach of the Year

MONROE — Pecatonica swept the Six Rivers East all-conference baseball awards after winning the league title in 2019.

Senior pitcher Carter Ruegsegger was the player of the year, while Vikings head coach Jim Strommen was coach of the year.

Ruegsegger was joined on the first-team all-conference list by Pecatonica senior teammates Colton Schraepfer, Lane Busser and Everett Johnson, and junior Zander Brunker. Freshman Hunter Enloe was honorable mention as a pitcher.

Argyle junior Gavin Johnson was first-team as an infielder, while junior teammates BJ Penniston and Miken Godfrey were also first-team selections. Seniors Mitch Flannery and Jakob Ploessl, along with sophomores Jayden Johnson and Clay Ritschard were honorable mention.

Monticello-Albany’s Josh Dahl was a first-team selection as an infielder, with teammate Corbin Kelley an honorable mention pick.

Black Hawk’s Avery Baumgartner was a first-team pick as an infielder, and teammates Rece Shelton and Jayden Stietz were honorable mention.

Barneveld had five first-team selections — senior Trey Gordon, junior Matt Fahey, sophomores Isaac Baumgarten and Trendon Barsness, and freshman Chase Ignatius.
