ARGYLE — Argyle-Pecatonica trailed 23-22 to Belmont in the first half of a conference crossover game on Tuesday, Nov. 21 but pulled away in the second for a 64-48 victory.

“If we can put together a whole game and not just a second half — we did the exact same thing against Highland — we’d be beating teams by 60 instead of 20,” Argyle-Pecatonica head coach Jen Krogman said. “Don’t get me wrong, I like winning by 20.”

Last season, Belmont won the Six Rivers West with a perfect 10-0 record. The Braves beat the Orioles and Vikings — then individual teams — by scores of 86-16 and 53-48, respectively.

Brooke Wellnitz led all scorers with 22 points, all from inside the arc. Kylie Butler trailed just behind with 21 points, including two 3-pointers. The Orioles sank two other threes in the game, one each from Anna Tisch (8 points) and Maddie Hirsch (3).

The Orioles had four players in double figures, led by freshman Wellnitz. She was a perfect 6-for-6 at the charity stripe with another six field goals. Butler tallied 15 points spread evenly between the periods. Loretta Tisch chipped in 13 points with two of the four 3-pointers. Anna Tisch, who scored 11 points, had the other two baskets beyond the arc.

ALBANY-MONTICELLO 72, WILLIAMS BAY 18

ALBANY — The Comets continued their hot start with a dominating 54-point win on Monday, Nov. 20. Albany-Monticello allowed just three points in the second half.

All but one player that touched the floor scored for the Comets. Abby Hollis led the way with 15 points, including three 3-pointers. Molly Olson tallied 12 points with a pair of 3s. Hollis and Olson had the only 3-pointers for Albany-Monticello. Anna Ellinger also chipped in 12 points, all within the arc.

TURNER 38, BRODHEAD 37

BRODHEAD — Despite being outscored 15-12 in the second half, the Trojans held on for conference win over the Cardinals on Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Brodhead had two players in double-figures, led by sophomore Allie Dahl. She finished with 14 points, going 4-for-6 from the free-throw line. Makenna Schooff tallied 10 points with eight of those coming from the charity stripe.

In an early Rock Valley-Rock picture, Brodhead, Clinton and Evansville lost their conference-opening games. On the other hand, Big Foot, Edgerton and Turner all won.
