Monroe downs No. 6 Jefferson

MONROE — Sophie Golembiewski delivered a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to score Katrina Sathoff, giving Monroe a 5-4 win over No. 6 Jefferson on Tuesday, April 23. The Eagles had forced extra innings with a three-run seventh.

Olivia Feller accounted for two of Monroe’s six hits. Emma Tran was 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. In the circle, Kaegan Paulson picked up her 10th win of the season, making her the second winningest pitcher in the state. She gave up four unearned runs on four hits and struck out seven.


MINERAL POINT 12, DARLINGTON 3

DARLINGTON — The Pointers, ranked No. 6 in Division 4, batted nearly .500 against the Redbirds in a SWAL contest on Monday, April 22.

Lylah Norgard, Sydney Wiegel and Lilly Ritchie tallied two hits each, accounting for all of Darlington’s offense. Sophie Wiegel and Sydney Wiegel split innings, giving up 10 earned runs on 16 hits. They struck out four but walked six.


PECATONICA 8, DARLINGTON 6

DARLINGTON — The Vikings held off the Redbirds’ rally in the bottom of the seventh, as Bri Peterson struck out Ella Winslow to end the game.

Alyssa Cassidy and Mikaela Gross tallied two hits each for Pecatonica, while Piper Garthwaite and Katelynne Jorenby drove in two runs each. Peterson picked up the win, giving up just one earned run on 13 hits. She struck out seven and didn’t issue a walk.

Ritchie went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Darlington. Winslow, Sophie Wiegel and Raynie Norgard also recorded multiple-hit games. Maddy Corley and Raynie Norgard drove in two runs each. Sophie Wiegel suffered the loss, giving up six earned runs on 13 hits. She struck out five and walked one.


BARNEVELD 23, PECATONICA 5

BLANCHARDVILLE — The No. 7 Eagles pounded out 21 hits and capitalized on 11 Viking errors in a Six Rivers East contest on Monday, April 22.

Peterson paced the offense, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Jorenby and Brooklyn Johnsrud tallied an extra base hit each. Diana Hendrickson suffered the loss, giving up nine earned runs on 21 hits. She struck out six and walked five.


BARNEVELD 10, ARGYLE-BLACK HAWK 1

BARNEVELD — The Orioles made it a one-run game in the top of the second with their score, but the Eagles responded with eight unanswered runs for the league win on Tuesday, April 23.

Maddy Lange went 2-for-3 with a double to lead the offense. Mya McNett suffered the loss, giving up nine earned runs on 11 hits. She struck out four and walked four.


JUDA-ALBANY 12, ARGYLE-BLACK HAWK 2

ALBANY — After falling off the WisSports.net Coaches Poll rankings, Juda-Albany responded with a five-inning win over Argyle-Black Hawk on Monday, April 22.

Myah Johnson and Emerson Briggs went a combined 4-for-6 with seven RBIs to lead the team. Avary Briggs also tallied two hits. In the circle, she pitched four innings of scoreless ball, striking out four. Anna Bartels finished the game, giving up two runs on one hit.

McNett, Sam Kammes and Adrionna Ubersox accounted for ABH’s three hits. McNett was charged with the loss, giving up seven earned runs. She struck out four but walked six.


JUDA-ALBANY 3, MONTICELLO-NEW GLARUS 2

ALBANY — An error in the bottom of the seventh inning led to a walk-off win for the Panthers. Emerson Briggs led off the frame with a single and scored on error by Sadie Wilkins.

Bartels, Alana Durtschi and Phoenix Homan tallied two hits each to pace the Panthers. Avary Briggs pitched a complete game in the win, giving up two unearned runs. She struck out 13 and didn’t issue a walk.

Dalana Trumpy and Molly Olson went a combined 4-for-7 to lead MNG. Olson was the only batter to not strikeout. Relief pitcher Kira Whisler took the loss, giving up one unearned run on one hit.


BELLEVILLE 9, MONTICELLO-NEW GLARUS 5

BELLEVILLE — The Wildcats’ four-run first was the difference maker in a nonconference contest on Monday, April 22.

Olson was the offense spark once again, going 2-for-2 with a double and RBI. Whisler suffered the loss, giving up four earned runs on three hits. She struck out one but walked three.
