MHS suffers a 60-pt loss

STOUGHTON — The Cheesemakers are in a bit of a rebuilding year this season, and a stop at Stoughton on Nov. 22 showed the great divide between the two programs. The Vikings, a middle-tier Badger East school, won 75-15 just days after losing to Oregon, a middle-tier Badger West school, by 30.

Stoughton had four players in double figures, led by Elizabeth Stokes’ 15. The Vikings made seven 3-pointers and finished 18 of 29 at the free throw line.

Monroe made just five field goals in the game, including a pair of 3s. The Cheesemakers also finished 3-for-5 at the charity stripe. Taylor Jacobson led the team with five points.


New Glarus 52, Columbus 51

COLUMBUS — The Glarner Knights picked up a road dramatic victory Nov. 22. Junior standout Lindsey Schadewalt hit three 3s and scored a game-high 24 points to lead New Glarus to victory. Teammate Alex Atwell also hit double figures with 15 points.

Columbus went into halftime with a 28-25 advantage, but the Knights held the Cardinals to just six field goals in the second half. New Glarus hit 7 of 9 free throws down the stretch in the final stanza.


Platteville 53, Darlington 46

PLATTEVILLE — Freshman Kylie Butler scored 17 points for the Redbirds, but the Hillmen used a solid first half to springboard themselves to victory Nov. 22.

Platteville led 33-25 at the break, and kept Darlington away from a big run at the end to secure the nonconference victory. Camryn Nies led all scorers with 19 points for the Hillmen, including a 5-for-9 effort from beyond the arc. Platteville hit 8 of 14 from deep as a team.

Cayla Golackson finished the game with 10 points for Darlington.


Brodhead 47, Evansville 39

EVANSVILLE — Senior Abbie Dix poured in 22 points and freshman Alecia Dahl added 15 more as the Cardinals ousted Rock Valley rival Evansville on Nov. 22.

Brodhead held a slight 27-24 advantage at halftime, and out-paced the Blue Devils 20-15 in the second half. Maria Messling led Evansville with 16 points.


Shullsburg 60, Pecatonica 43

SHULLSBURG — The Miners jumped out to a 30-19 lead at halftime, and a Vikings comeback was not in the cards in their Six Rivers Conference crossover Nov. 21.

Diana Hendrickson led Pecatonica with 12 points, while Anna Tisch finished with 10. The Vikings were 7 of 9 from the free throw line and hit two 3s.

Shullsburg was just 12 of 29 from the stripe, including a dismal 3-for-11 mark in the second half. However, the Miners hit six 3s to keep the two teams separated.

Camden Russell led all scorers with 19 points for Shullsburg, with Taylor Russell (11) and Stella Spillane (10) also reaching double figures. Taylor Russell also dominated the glass, pulling down 15 rebounds.


ALSA 47, Juda 33

MADISON — The Panthers struggled in a Nov. 1 nonconference game against Madison Abundant Life-Saint Ambrose.

Juda scored just 10 points in the first half and finished 1-for-20 from the free throw line. Katie Brooks led the Panthers with 17 points, and Ciarrah Davis added eight.

Magdalen Simon had a double-double for ALSA, finishing the night with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Teammate Emma Belter added 12 points.

In other area action, Belmont defeated Argyle 86-16 on Nov. 22.
