HARTLAND — The Rock County Fury played in a Thanksgiving tournament hosted by Arrowhead Nov. 23-24, playing three games in less than 24 hours. The Fury finished 1-2.

In the first game Nov. 23, Rock County lost to the Green Bay Area Ice Bears 6-0. The Bears scored two goals in the first, three in the second and then another goal in the third period. Rock County out-shot Green Bay 24-20, but Brodhead goalkeeper Brooke Teubert allowed five even strength and one power play goal.

In Game 2, played the morning of Nov. 24, the Fury fell to Fox City 7-2. Beloit Memorial freshman Olivia Cronin stopped 26 of 33 shots for Rock County.

Fox City took a 3-0 after the first period and led 5-0 through two. Monroe sophomore Anika Einbeck scored 38 seconds into the third period off of passes from Albany junior Haley Knauf and Monroe senior Cammi Ganshert to put the Fury on the board. Einbeck added a second goal eight minutes later on even strength off assists from Haley Knauf and sophomore sister Alyssa Knauf.

But the Fox City Stars added a pair of goals later in the period — included one with just 12 seconds left in the game — to cap the scoring.

Later Nov. 24, the Fury picked up a 4-3 win over Brookfield thanks to a hat trick from Alyssa Knauf. She scored just 2:40 into the first period off passes from Einbeck and Ganshert. Brookfield scored twice in the second to take a 2-1 lead, including a penalty shot goal by Ellie Fuchs at the 7:26 mark after being tripped by Janesville Craig sophomore Abby Humphrey.

But with just under five minutes to play in the second, Einbeck scored the equalizer off of passes from the Knauf sisters.

Brookfield re-took the lead just 1:54 into the third with six seconds left on a power play, but Alyssa Knauf scored twice more late in the period to give the Fury the win. Knauf took a pass from Einbeck with just under 3 minutes left in the game to even the score, and capped her hat trick with just 30 seconds remaining on passes from Haley Knauf and Beloit Memorial freshman Sara Loerke.

Cronin had 17 saves in the net as the Fury outshot the Stars 32-20.

Rock County (2-2) is back in action Thursday in the conference opener against Mauston Badger Lightning at Janesville.
