MONROE — State power Madison Edgewood dominated Monroe-New Glarus Sept. 14 in a swimming dual at the Green County Family YMCA, but it was MNG freshman that stole the show. While Edgewood won 121-49, Paradis broke the team-record in the 200-meter individual medley by 1/100th of a second.

Paradis was responsible for MNG’s only two victories across 11 events. In the 200-IM, Paradis won by just under two seconds with a time of 2:27.40. In the 100-meter butterfly, Paradis sailed to a nearly 5-second victory with a time of 1:07.07.

“She is close to breaking the 100 fly pool and team meter record as well,” said Rachel Root, MNG co-coach.

MNG’s lone individual second-place finish on the night came in the 100-breaststroke, as Karley Michels’ time of 1:24.34 was bested only by Anna TeDuits (1:20.79).

“Karley Michels had a strong 100 breaststroke swim. She improved her time from Oregon by a full second,” said Haley Kaiser, Root’s co-coach.

The Cheesemakers also took second in the 400-free relay, where Riley Hoesly, Delaney Lynch, Morgan Erstad and Paradis teamed up to swim a 4:20.06. The time was two seconds better than the Oregon meet just days earlier. The coaches credited Lynch and Paradis with swimming strong relay legs.

Hoesly, Michels, Paradis and Erstad were second in the 200-medley relay (2:12.20).

In the 400-freestyle, Hoesly was third with a time of 5:09.36. Hoesly was also third in the 200-free (2:25.50). Erstad was third in the 100-backstroke (1:12.50). The MNG 200-free relay team of Lynch, Michels, Danika Doll and Keeley Mulligan finished third (2:11.28).
