NEW GLARUS — The best finish by the New Glarus volleyball team in 30 years led to four players earning all-conference honors.

The Glarner Knights finished the Capitol South slate with an 8-2 record, finishing just one win behind champion Waterloo. The Knights then reached the regional final for the first time in almost 30 years.

Junior Grace Nommensen was a first-team selection for New Glarus, with teammates Amber Horn (junior) and Lindsey Schadewalt (sophomore) earning second-team honors. Senior Ellie Eichelkraut was an honorable mention selection.

Belleville senior Callie Smith was a first-team pick, and senior teammate Ava Foley earned a second-team nod despite missing a large chunk of the season with an injury.

Waterloo junior Sophia Schneider was the league’s player of the year.
