Egan scores 100th career win at Polo Invite

Wes Egan collected his 100th career win in a quarterfinal match of the Polo, Ill. Invite on Saturday, Jan. 6.

POLO, Ill. — Junior Wesley Egan (215) eclipsed 100 career wins in his semifinal match of the Polo Invite on Saturday, Jan. 6. Egan was one of three Parkview-Albany wrestlers that won their respective brackets, giving the Vikings 104.5 team points. That mark put them 7 of 17 teams, all of which were from Illinois.

Slater Valley (113) earned his title with a first-round bye, pin and 12-4 major decision. Sam Schwengels (190) also received a first-round bye. He then won by tech fall over Jack Ries of Galena, not allowing a single point. Schwengels followed with an 8-5 decision and third-period pin.

LEE GRIFFIN INVITE

KICKAPOO — Parkview-Albany and Darlington-Black Hawk sent four combined wrestlers to the Lee Griffin Invite on Saturday, Jan. 6. Vikings Autumn Hill (114) finished sixth and Sydney Coyne (235) third. Warbirds Kaylee Russell (138) and Ashlynn Eckerman (152) took second.

PALMYRA-EAGLE QUAD

PALMYRA — Parkview-Albany opened conference with three dual wins over Palmyra-Eagle (54-11), Horicon (51-30) and Hustisford (60-18). Valley (113), Danny Finley (120), Casey Hume (132), Peter Roth (144), Jayden Anderson (165), Schwengels (190), Egan (215) and Nate Stokstad went 3-0 on the night.

Between the three duals, the Vikings tallied 13 pins and earned 102 points from forfeits.
