NEW GLARUS — Several New Glarus High School student artists were jury-selected to showcase their work at the Capitol Conference Art Show. An art exhibit, featuring a diverse array of student artwork, was on display at the Pyle Center on the University of Wisconsin-Madison Campus during the month of April.
The Capitol Conference Art Show celebrates the creativity and dedication of young artists across the Capitol Conference, providing them with an opportunity to share their talents with a wider audience. The final reception for the exhibit was held on Thursday, April 27, where students, families, educators, and community members came together to recognize the outstanding work on display.
Senior, AJ Fleener; Senior, Isaac Ingwell; Freshman, Brigid McMannes; Sophomore, Leah Missig; Sophomore, Maxwell Urbanek, Junior, Ryleigh Williams; Freshman, Sawyer Swanson; and Junior, Paytin Vandegrift were the eight artists who represented New Glarus in the contest.
Paytin Vandegrift, a Junior, won the distinction for New Glarus High School “Best of School.” Her acrylic painting titled “A Thousand Birds,” features a secluded pond near a magical stone cottage.
