MADISON — Monroe trailed Edgewood by just one goal entering the third period of a Badger Conference contest Dec. 10, but the Crusaders scored three straight goals to pull away for the 5-2 final.
Edgewood’s Owen Porter scored the first two goals — one in the first and one in the third. Carter Rosenberg added on, and Matt Richter scored a short-handed goal.
Monroe chipped away with goals from Brady Spotts and Brody Goode, but Richter’s power play goal with just over a minute left in the contest put the game away.
Goode led the Cheesemakers with two points from one goal and one assist. Brock Brandli played all 51 minutes in goal, recording 41 saves.
