ALBANY — In the third annual Comet Classic 3v3 basketball tournament, senior Abby Hollis helped raise $5,322.81 for Albany youth basketball.
“We are beyond grateful for everyone’s support of this year’s Comet Classic,” Hollis said. “We started this tournament three years ago to raise funds for youth programs in the Albany community.”
In the first year, working with then-teammate Alana Durtschi, Hollis raised $1,888. In Year 2, the pair pooled together $3,866.25. With this year’s total, the event has raised over $11,000 since its inception.
In the 2024 Classic there were 29 teams, 116 players, 44 games, 24 volunteers and 14 sponsors. Teams came from surrounding communities including Albany, Argyle, Brodhead, Cambridge, Cuba City, McFarland, Mineral Point, Monroe, New Glarus, Orfordville, Pecatonica, Rio, Sauk Prairie and Waunakee.
In the girls division, champions were E.A.C.H, McFarland Spartans and Space Barbies.

Between divisions, there was also a free-throw and three-point contest. Winners were Hannah, Lydia, Kelsey, Kyler, Henry and Bryar in the free-throw, and Clovie, Anna, Brynlee, Ari, Fin and Ted in the three-point.
New this year was a silent auction and 50/50 raffle with items donated by community members and businesses.
