MONROE - Monroe seniors Erin Gellings and Paige Prien had a Senior Night to remember Monday, as the No. 1 doubles tennis team topped Milton seniors Allie Suckus and Abby Simes, 6-1, 6-0.

The Monroe girls tennis team (2-6, 1-4, Badger South) lost to Milton 4-3, but Monroe coach Tim Walsh said performances from Gellings, Prien and seniors Amber Jenson and Chelsea Miller made the evening special.

"They really played well. It was exciting to see them play so well," Walsh said. "And the camaraderie that the team showed for each other was really nice to see. That's what it's all about. Just a respect for each other that's so good to see."

Monroe junior Eva Priewe (No. 2 singles) topped junior Ashley Lester, 6-2, 6-2, and Monroe junior Katie Demianiuk (No. 3 singles) defeated sophomore Kylie Robinson, 6-2, 6-1.

"We did as well as we could, and I'm looking forward to the conference tournament coming up soon," Walsh said.

The Cheesemakers will play Waunakee at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
