DARLINGTON — Despite six errors and just two hits, Darlington defeated Cuba City 6-3 in a SWAL game on Tuesday, April 9. The Cuban pitching staff gave six free passes with two of them coming around to score.
Tye Crist reached base in three of his five plate appearances, going 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored. Gage Banfield tallied Darlington’s second hit. He also collected the win on the bump, giving up two earned runs on three hits. Banfield struck out six and walked two.

BELOIT — The Cheesemakers limited their errors and Trojan hits to just five, but 12 walks from the pitching staff was the difference in a Rock Valley Conference crossover loss on Wednesday, April 10.
Ethan Rosenstiel, Cam Newcomer and Owen Gilbertson accounted for Monroe’s three hits. Eli Schaefer and Cole Meighan also reached base with two walks each. Owen Douglas suffered the loss as one of five Cheesemakers to toe the rubber.

COLUMBUS — Jack Towne kept the Brodhead-Juda offense at bay, striking out 10 batters with three, 3-up 3-down innings in a nonconference contest of Monday, April 8.
Brodhead-Juda collected six hits, led by Gabe Bockhop with two. David Masloske drove in the lone RBI. Evan Senobe suffered the loss, giving up two earned runs on five hits. He struck out 10 and walked three.

BRODHEAD — After a narrow loss the day prior, Brodhead-Juda rebounded for a Rock Valley Conference win over Whitewater on Tuesday, April 9. The Cardinals tallied nine hits and took advantage of four Whippet errors.
Senobe, Masloske and Kohen Sawle recorded two hits each, while Bockhop and Clayton Elliott reached base twice via walk. Elliott also picked up the win on the bump, giving up one run on just two hits. He struck out nine and walked six.

BELLEVILLE — The Ponies couldn’t keep pace with the Wildcats in a nonconference contest on Monday, April 8. Belleville outhit Monticello-Albany 15-8.
Nate Stokstad and Ty Durtschi recorded multiple-hit games, going a combined 4-for-8 with two RBIs. Tyler Constanini and Cody Pryce also reached base twice via walk. Carson Gafner was the pitcher of record, giving up seven runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out two.

BARNEVELD — Errors plagued the Orioles in a Six Rivers East Conference game on Tuesday, April 9. ABH committed eight errors, leading to eight unearned runs.
Offensively, the Orioles kept pace with the Eagles. Will Helfvogt was 2-for-3 with one run scored. Ike Waage and Trent Bidlingmaier also recorded hits. Jackson Berget reached base twice via walk. Max Godfrey suffered the loss, giving up four earned runs on two hits. He walked three and uncharacteristically didn’t record a strikeout. In 2023, Godfrey averaged 14.7 strikeouts per game.

NEW GLARUS — After sharing the Capitol Conference crown with Marshall in 2023, New Glarus had revenge on its mind. The Knights took it to the Cardinals in the league opener, tallying nine hits and drawing 10 walks.
Designated hitter Zander Hauser went 2-for-2 with two RBIs to pace the offense. Ashlin Mihlbauer, Patrick Alt, Landon Stelter and Braden Rear also drove in multiple runs, while Alt and Leyton Mihlbauer reached base twice via walk. Alt picked up the win on the bump. He gave up one run on four hits in five innings of work, striking out seven.

NEW GLARUS — The Knights took advantage of four Blue Devil errors, scoring four unearned runs in a Capitol Conference crossover game on Tuesday, April 9.
Three-hole hitter Nolan Julseth was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. He also picked up the save, giving up one run on three hits in two innings of work. Leyton Mihlbauer got the start and collected the win, giving up two runs on four hits. He struck out four and walked two.
