Darlington goes 3-1 at Belmont

BELMONT - Tanner Andrews was 4-0 with four pins Saturday, as Darlington went 3-1 at the Belmont Duals.

Andrews, wrestling at 189 pounds, had three pins in the first period, including a 45-second win over Belmont-Platteville's Lukas Hinsche.

Fellow Redbird Mark Brugger (heavyweight) also went 4-0 and recorded two pins. Coty Lange (152) was 3-1 on the day with a pair of pins. Brandon Heins (215) had two wins, including a pin, and Bo Brunkow also netted a pin.

Darlington knocked off Wisconsin Heights, 74-4; Belmont-Platteville, 58-22; and Mount Horeb-Barneveld, 36-28. The Redbirds only dual loss at the event was to Cuba City/Southwestern, 38-26.

Elkhorn Invitational

ELKHORN - Brodhead-Juda took fifth place Saturday. The Cardinals finished with 133 points, half a point ahead of Brookfield Central.

Hunter Colden (23-2 overall) finished in first place in the 145-pound division, knocking off Brookfield Central's Tommy Bucholtz 6-3 in the championship.

Cody Spooner (18-2 overall) was second in the 215-pound class, falling to Beloit Memorial's Alex Polizzi (29-0) by pin-fall in 1 minute, 21 seconds.

Mitchel Wiesenberg (21-5 overall) was third in the 125-pound division.

Devon Seitz (152 pounds), Kramer Lewis (140) and Cale Zettle (130) each finished in fourth place.

Elkhorn won the eight-team invitational, registering 204 team points. Clinton (179.5) was second, Janesville Parker (179) was third and Franklin (165) was fourth.

Ithaca-Weston Invitational

RICHLAND CENTER - Cody James, Chris James and Ross Gilbertson each finished in second place at the nine-team tournament, helping Pecatonica-Argyle finish sixth as a team with 110.5 points.

Cody James, wrestling in the 112-pound division, lost to Weston-Ithaca's Marcus McCauley by pin at 3:23. Chris James (125) lost to La Crosse Logan's Kyle McKenzie in the championship match by pin-fall in 3:19.

Gilbertson (heavyweight) was pinned in 1:19 by Richland Center's Zach Swenson in the championship.

Fellow Vikings Tyler Francois (140) and Eli Davis (145) each took third place honors.

Black Hawk finished in eighth place as a team, tallying 63 points.

Kyle Stauffacher was second in the 145-pound division, falling to Adams-Friendship's Brandon Sleeman by technical fall in the finals.
