MONROE - When Monroe's Ben Korth got into a pickle play in a Home Talent Night League game against Blanchardville Thursday, no one could have predicted what would follow.

Blanchardville botched the rundown play in the first inning and Adam Francour scored and that opened the floodgates as the Brewers scored eight runs after two outs against Blanchardville starting pitcher Justin Bollrud to beat the Bullets 10-3.

"We just couldn't get that third out," Blanchardville Business Manager Nate Dammen said. "If we get that third out in that rundown we are down 2-0 instead of 8-0."

Blanchardville committed three errors in the first to set up the Brewers' big inning. Monroe's Taylor Riese, who went 2 for 3, had a two-run single to right. Monroe's Scott White crushed a two-run double to give the Brewers a 7-0 lead. Brewers co-player manager Rooney Janecke, who went 2 for 3, delivered an RBI single that gave the Brewers an 8-0 lead they would not relinquish.

"It's always nice when you hit the ball," Janecke said. "It didn't seem like we hit a lot of balls hard. A lot of them were just dropping and falling in."

Blanchardville struggled to generate offense against three Monroe pitchers, going 1 for 11 with runners in scoring position and the Bullets stranded 12 on base.

"We have been getting runners on base," Dammen said. "It's just getting that one key hit."

Francour earned the win for the Brewers. He pitched three shutout innings. Francour gave up four hits and he struck out two. Brewers co-player manager Lon Scheuerell pitched one inning and Jake Teasdale pitched three innings in relief. Teasdale gave up just one earned run on two hits. He struck out five and walked three.

Bollrud came through with an infield RBI single in the fourth to cut the Brewers' lead to 8-1. However, the Bullets left the bases loaded in both the fourth and fifth. Teasdale walked two and hit a batter in the fifth. He then walked in a run. Teasdale got out of the bases loaded jam by striking out Melvin Jerrett.

Blanchardville was led by Hans Herfel who went 2 for 3 and Trevor Theobald was 2 for 4.

Janecke didn't want to burn Francour out pitching since the Brewers host Dodgeville Saturday, finish a suspended night league game at Platteville on Sunday and then play a regular scheduled Sunday league game.

"Adam is one of our Sunday pitchers," Janecke said. "We wanted to save him in case we need him in relief in games this weekend."
