BOYS HOOPS: Brodhead, Darlington both lose

MCFARLAND - The Cardinals could not overcome a five point first half deficit, and fell to conference newcomer McFarland 50-42.

Sophomore center J.J. Panoske scored a game-high 13 points for Brodhead (1-4, 0-3 Rock Valley South). Nick Jacobson joined the big man in double figures with 10 points.

Brodhead led 8-6 after the first quarter, but then fell behind 22-17 at halftime. In the third, McFarland held the lead and the two teams went into the fourth quarter with the Spartans leading 34-27.

Boscobel 65, Darlington 63

BOSCOBEL - Alex Erickson scored 21 points and Ethan Pickett added 17, but the Redbirds fourth-quarter comeback attempt fell short.

Despite holding a 29-23 lead at the half, Darlington allowed Boscobel to score 25 points in the third quarter. The Redbirds then trailed 48-39 with just eight minutes left to play.

Erickson and Pickett each hit three 3-pointers in the game, and Darlington (1-4, 0-2 SWAL) finished with seven baskets from outside the arc.
