Blues keep hot streak going

MONROE - The Monroe Blues semi-pro hockey team skated to a 5-2 win over Eagle River Saturday. It marked the third straight win for the Blues.

Monroe opened up the scoring with a goal from Mike Kohn on an assist by Gottlieb Brandli III and L.P. Govin. The Blues (4-10) were on the power play to finish up the first period with Travis Rayala scoring an unassisted goal.

Eagle River scored once in the second period to tie the game at 2. A minute into the third period, Monroe's Scott Perkins scored a power-play goal on assists by Kohn and Brandli III. Brandli III and Perkins each scored one more goal in the third period with assists going to Mike Goeser and Govin.

Christian Blick had 45 saves. The Blues will be on the road for next three weeks at Fond du Lac, at Mosinee and at Appleton. Monroe will be back to finish up its home games March 13 against Fond du Lac and March 14 against Mosinee.
