Elizabeth “Bette” Kundert

Elizabeth “Bette” Kundert, age 99, of Monroe passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020 in Janesville surrounded by her family. She was born the daughter of George and Selma (Burgin) Ladner in Monroe. She was a 1938 graduate of Monroe High School and a 1940 graduate of Brown’s Business College in Freeport. Bette was married to Harry McGuire on August 24, 1946 at St. Victor’s Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on November 18, 1961. She was later united in marriage to Ray E. Kundert on December 27, 1965 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Freeport; he preceded her in death on March 14, 1994.

Bette was a bookkeeper for over 60 years for various business in the Monroe area. She also owned and operated Bette’s Gift Shop for over 50 years. Bette was a longtime member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor’s Catholic Church; she also volunteered her time for the Women of the Moose, Historic Cheesemaking Association, and hospice.

Bette is survived by her daughter, Linda C. Mueller of Janesville; son, Harry G. “Butch” (Lisa) McGuire of Missoula, MT; step-daughters, Pat Jordan of Juda, and Barbara Chippaikode; grandchildren, Jim (Lori) Mueller, Tony (Brenda) Mueller, Madison McGuire, and Cody (Noelle) Bierle; step-grandchildren, Jill Austin, Jody (Dan) Holland, Jennie (Jim) Mohns, Jeff (Kathy) Meyer, Ken and Chris Chippaikode; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Breana Mueller, Casey and Hunter Loerke, Jameson Bierle, Colleen Dunahee, Anthony (Taylor) Dunahee; great-great-grandsons, Theo Smith, and Quinn, Cale and Kane Dunahee; nieces, Marilyn Neuenschwander and Barbara Senn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sisters, Vena Gertsch, Clara Klessinger, Emma Huber, and Rose Huber; step-daughter, Penny Scheffer; nephews, Joe Klessinger, Dick Koller, Bob Koller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12PM Noon on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at St. Clair of Assisi Parish at St. Victor’s Catholic Church with Monsignor Larry Bakke as celebrant. Burial will follow service at Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11AM until the time of mass, at the church. Face coverings and social distancing are required.
