Diane M. Nelson

Age 78, of Monroe, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at her home. Diane was born on February 8, 1944 in Monroe, the daughter of John and Frances (Leuenberger) Bauman. Diane was a 1962 graduate of Monroe High School and married Don Nelson on August 23, 1964. After raising her children, Diane operated Sugar River Enterprises for several years. She has been the owner of Fairfield Acres in rural Monroe for the past nine years. She attended Martintown Community Church and enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing, gardening and canning. 

Diane is survived by three children, Tina Kehoe (Les Riley) of Brodhead, Cheryl Nelson of Westby, WI, Jeffrey (Christina) Nelson of Woodbury, MN; Seven grandchildren, Jessica (Zachari) Tollakson, Brielle Kehoe (Brandon Jilg), Austin Gruber, Jamie (Ashley) Nelson, Hannah, Lily, and Alex Nelson; and six great grandchildren, Dominic, Veronica, Alice, Caleb, Athena, and Phoenix. She is further survived by a sister, Barbara Noble of Monroe; a brother, Ron (Barbara) Bauman of South Wayne; and the father of her children, Don Nelson of Brodhead. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Bauman; and brother-in-law, Don Noble. 

Private graveside services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, with Pastor Kevin Cernek officiating. There will be no visitation.
