Deena J. Buol, age 58, of Monroe died January 12, 2019 at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. She was united in marriage to Michael Buol on November 6, 1987 in Juda. She was co-owner with her husband Michael of Green County Locker in Monroe. She was born on December 24, 1960 in Monroe, WI to Duane and Susan (Preston) Helland. Deena, along with her five sisters were counted on to work in various ways at the family owned Helland's Food and Locker in Juda. Deena attended Juda School but graduated with the Monroe High class of 1979. Deena had a lengthy career in the financial business. Her jobs were with Anchor Bank in New Glarus, The Bank of New Glarus, Amcore Bank in Monroe as well as Rural Insurance in Madison and Roy's Market in New Glarus. She served as treasurer for the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce. She was also part of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. She and Michael purchased Green County Locker in Monroe in 2009.They would work side by side in the butcher shop until health issues last fall forced her to give up many of her duties. They would have celebrated their 10-year anniversary of ownership this February.

Deena was a kind and loving person. She was not fortunate to have had children but she enjoyed her many nieces and nephews. She had many cats over the years usually two at a time. Maybe even three! She also liked dogs and she enjoyed walking around the neighborhood of their condo on First Street and visiting the neighbor dogs. Deena did get to travel before the locker ownership consumed most of their time. While still in school she went with her parents to various meat locker conventions throughout the country including Las Vegas. Deena and Michael flew to Florida numerous times to enjoy the company of Uncle Bob and Aunt Olga and the warm sun. There was a 1998 cruise in the Caribbean courtesy of New Glarus friends Jon and Judy Ziltner. Her favorite trips were to the Pocono Mountains region of Pennsylvania to visit her school and lifelong friend Laurie, husband Michael, Tara Jo and “Momma Bev”. She liked to walk and bike and would watch countless hours of mystery TV shows like Perry Mason, Law and Order, and Murder She Wrote. She loved the 1951 Christmas Carol with Alister Sims.

Deena is survived by her husband and constant companion of 31 years, Michael; sisters, Bette (Tony) Reynolds, Peggy Helland, Di Helland, Linda Helland, honorary sister and wonderful family friend Dr. Chris Langemo.
