Brian E. Schultz, age 59, of Monroe passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the SSM Health Hospice Home. He was born in Monroe on May 28, 1964, the son of Samuel and Constance (Brooks) Schultz. He was raised on his family’s farm in McConnell, IL until his adulthood, when he went to meet the big outside world. He attended Orangeville Schools. On January 2, 2019, he married the love of his life, Christy Montgomery in Monroe.

Brian had several jobs during his lifetime, working on the family farm, truck driving which made good use of his CDL license. He drove milk semi-trucks and straight trucks and was also a mechanic, working primarily on semis. His last employment was with Sloan Implement Company delivering John Deere parts.

He didn’t think his sense of humor and sarcastic input in a conversation would be his life long job, but he did it naturally. During Brian’s life he had many interests, like shooting pool, bowling, hunting, driving his Harley bike, and his 1966 Buick Skylark. He also collected knives and John Deere toys. He enjoyed tractor pulls, classic car shows, and was an avid 49ers football fan.

Brian is survived by the love of his life, Christy (Montgomery) Schultz; son, Jordan (fiancé, Nena Heinzleman) Lickes; grandson, Carson, granddaughter, newborn Maci Jade; a sister, Caroline Schultz; and his aunt, Nancy Schultz. He is further survived by his brothers-in-law, Chuck (Dana) Montgomery, Duane Montgomery, Carl Montgomery, and Larry (Karen) Montgmery; sisters-in-law, Luann (Greg) Bartz and Linda (Frank Smith) Kruegar; nephews, Jordan, Bryce, Michael (Misty) Montgomery, Jesse and Tyler Bartz, and Christopher (Pam) Kruegar; nieces, McKenzie (Justin Lowe) Montgomery and Karli Montgomery; cousins, Fritz (Stacy) Siegenthaler, Margaret Siegenthaler, Steve Price, Larry Price, and Jackie Wallin; and his dogs, Abby and Sophia. Brian had many friends, but some were also considered his family who he also leaves behind, Tony and Barb Seffrood, Blake Andrews, Oscar Nelson, Royal Berg, Tim (Dawn) Sullivan, Lannie (Jean) Pick, and many more special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; uncle, John Schultz; his mother and father-in-law, Robert “Bob” and Gloria (Johnson) Montgomery; good friend, Danny Reed and his longtime pet, Sam.

A Celebration of Brian’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at Rowdy’s Bar (the old VFW) 1428 17th St. Monroe; bring your Harley or classic car and wear your Harley or John Deere attire.

Brian’s final resting place will be in the Jordan Lutheran Cemetery in Browntown, burial will be held at a later date.

 

The memorial fund has been established in Brian’s name.
