Woman killed in crash

SEYMOUR - An 87-year-old Mineral Point woman was killed and an Iowa man was severely injured in a two-vehicle collision west of Seymour on Monday afternoon.

The victim, Rosette V. King, was pronounced dead at the Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County. The other driver, Chad Michael Ernzen, 38, Durango, Iowa, was transported by MedFlight to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison with life-threatening injuries.

The Lafayette County Sheriff's Office was notified of the collision at 1:55 p.m. and dispatched deputies, the Belmont Fire Department and Belmont EMS to the scene.

Deputies investigating the collision determined that King was westbound on Wisconsin 81 west of Prairie Road when Ernzen, traveling east, crossed the centerline and struck King's vehicle head-on. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles after the collision.

The collision remains under investigation.
