MONROE - A Verona woman was cited Friday, Oct. 26, for her involvement in two hit-and-run accidents the same afternoon in Green and Dane counties.
Danielle S. Kraus, 21, was cited for operating left of center, failure to maintain control, failure to notify law enforcement of a crash and hit-and-run on an occupied vehicle.
According to the Green County Sheriff's Department:
Kraus was involved in three crashes Friday afternoon. In each case, witnesses identified her as a white female with dark hair and the lone occupant of a maroon Ford car.
At 12:56 p.m., deputies took a report of a hit-and-run crash on County J north of Hustad Valley Road in the Town of York.
Jamie L. Desmet, 35, Blanchardville, reported she and her infant child were northbound on County J when she saw a maroon Ford headed toward her in the wrong lane. She honked but the Ford continued toward her so she veered off onto the gravel shoulder. The Ford struck her driver's side, causing minor damage. The Ford lost a portion of its side mirror and continued down County J.
Desmet and her baby were uninjured.
At 3:27 p.m., dispatch was alerted to a single-vehicle crash involving a maroon Ford in the W7900 block of Quarry Road in the Town of Adams. Before deputies arrived, a man had pulled the Ford out of the ditch, and the car had gone eastbound on Quarry Road.
At 3:44 p.m., deputies identified Kraus as a driver in a two-vehicle head-on collision on County JG in Dane County, just north of County J in Green County. Her vehicle was severely damaged. She admitted to her involvement in the earlier two hit-and-run accidents.
She was issued a mandatory court date and turned over to Dane County deputies.
