MONROE - In a meeting Wednesday, the City of Monroe Salary and Personnel Committee:

• Approved sharing 50/50 the costs for employee flu shots.

• Accepted the resignation of City Building Inspector David Powers and authorized City Clerk Carol Stamm to advertise for a new inspector, with the job description to be updated as required.

• Approved Mayor Ron Marsh to find a independent inspection company to issue permits and certificates on a short-term, temporary basis, for a cost that is "no more than now" being spent for the work. Marsh said the issuing of permits cannot be stopped in view of construction in progress in the city.

• Approved vacation carry-over for the head maintenance person.

• Approved 52 hours of vacation carry-over, to be used before end of year, for the city clerk.
