MONROE — A man arrested in June near Monroe for his sixth offense of drunken driving was sentenced in October in Green County Circuit Court to five years in prison and five years on extended supervision.

Kevin D. Zimmerman, 40, Fox Lake, pleaded no contest Oct. 4 to the sixth-offense Class G felony charge of operating while intoxicated, as well as to a Class I felony charge of fleeing police. A felony charge of operating with a prohibited blood-alcohol content and misdemeanor charges of obstructing an officer and driving with a revoked license were dismissed as part of a plea deal.

Judge James Beer handed down the sentence, with conditions that Zimmerman have his license revoked three years and use an ignition interlock device for three years once he has his license again. Zimmerman owes the court $3,498.

According to police reports, deputies arrested Zimmerman after responding to a traffic complaint on a vehicle in the W2100 block of Wisconsin 11 on the night of June 17. The vehicle was located in the W5400 block of County FF, Town of Monroe, and Zimmerman was subsequently arrested and jailed.

He had recently been released from prison for his fifth OWI at the time of his arrest and was on extended supervision, according to state court records. He was under court order to maintain absolute sobriety and not drive.

Zimmerman was convicted of his second and third OWIs in 2000 and 2009, both in Dodge County, his fourth OWI in Green Lake County in 2013 and his fifth OWI in 2015 again in Dodge County. For his fifth OWI, he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison and three years on extended supervision.
