MAC set for Holiday Silent Auction

MONROE - Anyone shopping for a wide variety of gifts at a great price and all displayed at one convenient location should not miss the opportunity to attend the Monroe Arts Center's 2009 Holiday Silent Auction beginning Friday, Nov. 27, through Friday, Dec. 11. This important annual fundraiser for MAC features hundreds of unique gift items for virtually everyone on a shopping list.

For the convenience of shoppers, all of the items will be displayed and arranged by category. The categories are Original and Limited Editions; Handcrafted and Floral Designs; Something For You; Something For the Home; Theater, Sports and Leisure; Restaurant and Specialty Dinners; and Baked Goods and Specialty Foods. The auction contains hundreds of unique items, such as seasonal centerpieces; art objects; jewelry; Emeril Lagasse pot and pan set; tickets to the Broadway show "Dreamgirls" at the Cadillac Palace in Chicago; overnight stay at Wisconsin Dells Chula Vista resort with four water park passes; golf packages; Tyrol Basin ski lift tickets; traditional Swiss dinner for four; gift certificates for clothing, food, and jewelry; catered Super Bowl party for 20; Green Bay Packer jersey; the ever-popular array of delicious homemade candy, breads, cookies, cakes, pies, jams, and jellies; and much more.

A highlight of the auction, which young bidders always anticipate, is the American Girl doll. Each year the American Girl company introduces a brand-new character with an inspirational story of what it means to be an American girl today. Up for bids at the MAC auction is "Chrissa," the 2009 American Girl Doll of the Year.

The auction opening night is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27. Holiday music and refreshments will add to the opening night shopping experience.

"We have much to be grateful for in this holiday season," said MAC Executive Director Richard Daniels. "A simple review of the long list of unique and wonderful auction items is a testament to the generosity of the people and businesses of Monroe."

In addition to the opening night, extended viewing and bidding hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28; noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29; 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5; noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6; and 4 to 6:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11.

Final bids will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 11, prior to the beginning of the MAC Holiday Community Sing-Along. Items may also be viewed during Monroe Arts Center's regular business hours. Bids are accepted in person or by calling the Monroe Arts Center at (608) 325-5700.
