MONROE - The Green County St. Patrick's Day Committee has several special events planned for Irish Week 2013.
The third annual Run Before You Crawl will kick of the week on Saturday, March 9 at the YMCA. The kids race will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the Celtic 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. Participants can register at the Green County Family YMCA or www.greencountyymcacelticrun.com.
The sixth annual Flanagans Shenanigans' Celtic Pub Crawl starts at 1 p.m., with registration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 9 at Friendly Inn. Crawlers are encouraged to bring a food or pet donation to the registration. Nine pubs are involved this year and Whiskey of the Damned will perform at Turner Hall from 2 to 6 p.m. The is no cover charges for registered crawlers. Participants can register at participating pubs, Heartland Graphics or celticcrawl.com.
Monroe Public Library will host leprechaun crafts and stories for kids from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16.
The St. Patrick's Day Parade, sponsored by Orchid and Main Street, will take on Sunday, March 17. The parade will start at 12:17 p.m. from Minhas Brewery parking lot and proceed around the Square. To enter a business, club or family in the free parade, contact Veronica Bruce at 608-329-4204.
The Monroe Lion's Club is selling raffle tickets for a trip to Ireland and cash prizes. Tickets are available from club members, Heartland Graphics and Celtic Crawl Pubs. The drawing will be Sunday, March 17.
