MONROE - Green County Crime Stoppers is seeking information on the reported theft of two snowmobiles from the 1300 block of Fourth Avenue West in Monroe.
The theft occurred sometime between 6 p.m. Dec. 30 and when it was reported around 9 a.m. on Dec. 31.
Both snowmobiles were tampered with to start them and were driven south along Fourth Avenue West before turning west on the Badger State Trail.
One snowmobile is a 2002 Arctic Cat ZL600ESR, with a gray hood with orange louvers and a gray and black single rider seat.
The second snowmobile is a 2002 Arctic Cat 800 Pantera, with a black and purple hood with orange pin striping and a seat equipped with a backrest, designed for two riders.
Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelley said the vehicles have a combined value of around $7,000.
Anyone who has information regarding the theft is encouraged to contact Green County Crime Stoppers at (800) 422-7463 or the Monroe Police Department at 329-2400.
Kelley said this is the second incident involving snowmobile theft in the past two months. The other incident also involved the theft of two snowmobiles.
The recent thefts, Kelley said, are due in part to snow being on the ground and many snowmobiles being stored outside.
Kelley said the incidents are not related.
