Hello blue skies: Gloomy weather to take a break

MONROE - After weeks of overcast skies, the sun will finally make a welcome appearance this week before disappearing again this weekend.

At least some blue skies are predicted to return Thursday and Friday, according to forecast data from the National Weather Service, which predicts mostly sunny skies until early Saturday. Weather Underground, the company behind the forecast that appears in The Monroe Times, calls for partly cloudy skies through Friday.

The reappearance of the sun will represent a brief break in the overcast and sullen weather of the past several weeks.

However, the sun's reappearance will not also bring warmth. The forecast calls for a high temperature of 19 degrees on Thursday and 20 degrees on Friday, a noticeable drop from the 28-degree high predicted for today.

Monroe residents should relish the sunlight while they can, as Saturday has a 40 percent chance of snowfall, Monday a 20 percent chance of precipitation and Tuesday a 70 percent chance of rain.
