NEW GLARUS - The Green County Sheriff's Office is investigating two burglaries, one involving the theft of guns and other weapons, that occurred about nine hours and seven miles apart Monday.

The second burglary, reported at 7 p.m., occurred at a home in the W6200 block of Legler Valley Road in the Town of New Glarus. Items stolen included a Bushmaster AR-15 rifle, a 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun, a crossbow, a Buck hunting knife, jewelry and cash.

Earlier in the day, a burglary was reported around 10 a.m. at a residence in the N8100 block of Postville Road in the Town of York. A laptop computer and safe were taken, as well as an aluminum dolly and cash.

Lt. Kari Phillips of the Green County Sheriff's office said there are currently no signs the burglaries are related.

"We don't have anything indicating that they're connected at this point," Phillips said. She added that her office's detective division is actively working both cases.
