A Monroe man who tipped over his motorcycle on a gravel-covered street with a minor on board is facing felony charges for fourth offense OWI.
According to Monroe Police, at 5:49 p.m. on July 7, officers on patrol located a one vehicle accident, with reported minor injuries, at the intersection of 16th Avenue and 16th Street.
The investigation indicated that a motorcycle operated by Shane A. Chesebro, 45, of Monroe, failed to negotiate a turn on gravel and tipped the motorcycle over. Chesebro and a juvenile passenger both had minor injuries and declined medical attention. The motorcycle sustained functional damage.
Chesebro was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, (4th Offense), with a passenger under the age of 16, and Bail Jumping. Chesebro was also cited for operating after revocation due to an alcohol related conviction. Chesebro was confined at the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.
On July 9, Chesebro, in custody, appeared by video in front of Judge Faun Phillipson for an initial appearance. He signed a $5,000 signature bond with conditions that he not possess or consume any intoxicants, may not enter establishments like bars or taverns whose primary purpose is the sale of alcohol, with the exception of gas stations and grocery stores, though he is not allowed to enter those sections of the store. He also is not allowed to operate a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
Chesebro is due back in court on Aug. 17 for a preliminary hearing with Judge Jane Bucher. At the same time, he has a status conference with Bucher in regards to a incident in late May in which he was arrested for misdemeanor disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and resisting or obstructing an officer — all with repeater modifiers.
Chesebro is a lifetime registrant sex offender stemming from a 2003 conviction in Michigan for 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct.
