MONROE — The School District of Monroe announced another key sponsorship for the new school taking shape on the edge of town, this one on behalf of a prominent local insurance broker, Figi Insurance and Financial Services.
It is the latest in a string of sponsorships, and the insurer will pay $50,000 to MHS for naming rights and sponsorship of the tennis courts complex; and $10,000 in a similar deal for sponsorship and rights for the music room.
The news was announced during the School District of Monroe’s Board of Education meeting on July 14. These 10-year agreements represent “a generous investment in the future of Monroe’s students and the broader community,” district officials said in a statement released on the partnership.
Once the new high school is completed, the spaces will be known as the Figi Insurance & Financial Services Tennis Courts; and the Figi Insurance & Financial Services Instrumental Music Room, “celebrating the company’s commitment to supporting student athletics and fine arts.”
Supt. Joe Monroe praised the local business who have lined up to support MHS facilities, money that will go to keep key upgraded facilities running and maintained for years to come.
“Shane (Figi) was extremely eager to be involved and we’re very thankful for the Figi family and Figi Insurance and Financial Services for their support,” Monroe told the board.
District Business Manager Ron Olson agreed.
“I know Shane and his team were very excited,” he said.
Figi said his family brand is tied to the future of Monroe.
“We’re proud to contribute to the success of this new high school and to support the young people who will be learning, competing, and creating memories in these incredible new spaces,” said Figi, in the prepared statement. “This is about giving back to a community that has given so much to us, and we look forward to being part of Monroe High School’s bright future.”
In June, the district announced sponsorships with Faith Engineering, Inc. of Monroe to sponsor the MHS Metals Classroom and SSM Health of Monroe will sponsor the ticket booth for the new football stadium.
The metals sponsorship is a 10-year sponsorship agreement with Faith, securing naming rights. That donation includes a $50,000 investment that will directly support career and technical education programs for students, and the SSM Health deal is a lifetime, $25,000 agreement.
And in May, school officials announced that, as part of the district’s new high school building project, Badger State Ethanol had pledged $350,000 in support for naming rights on the new MHS stadium and other facilities.
