Explosion at grain elevator in Brodhead

BRODHEAD - No injuries were reported after an explosion at a Brodhead grain elevator Monday.

At 11:15 a.m., an explosion was reported at Farm-City Elevator Inc., a grain elevator on County T in Brodhead, said Heather Oborne, administrative assistant for the Brodhead Fire District.

Oborne said no injuries were reported in the explosion and that firefighters left the scene at approximately 2:45 p.m.

A representative of Farm-City Elevator said the cause of the explosion is still unknown but added that it did not cause a fire. The representative also said that damage estimates were also unknown as of Monday afternoon.

Oborne said the incident remains under investigation.
